COLLISION AND INJURY DYNAMICS (CID)
LAUNCHES ACT LAB LLC (ACT)

Independent Laboratory Provides Compliance Testing for Bicycle and
Other Sports Industries

With the increased adoption of compliance standards world-wide and the passing of America’s new Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008, COLLISION AND INJURY DYNAMICS, INC. (CID) announced the formation of ACT LAB LLC (ACT), an independent, professional third-party product testing group to provide unbiased product evaluation and research for the bicycle, outdoor, team sports, motorcycle and other industries.

"The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 is the most comprehensive overhaul of consumer product safety laws since the creation of the CPSC in 1972," states President and ACT founder John Bogler. "This new law touches virtually all manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers of consumer products; and in the immediate, it mandates oversight and compliance of the manufacturing of children’s products containing lead paint—to include helmets, bicycles, and related accessories. Our goal is to work with all bicycle manufacturers and related firms to ensure their products are in compliance with all standards to reduce the possibilities of injuries, loss of life, damage to property and business."

With its superior reputation of quality, experience, knowledge and excellence, CID has founded ACT to provide mechanical and chemical testing services within standards as:

        • US DOT (Federally approved DOT helmet certified test laboratory—FVMSS)
        • ASTM
        • CPSC
        • SFI
        • ISO
        • CEN
        • Australian Standards Association
• Japanese Standards Institute • American National Standards Institute

Other services offered by ACT are lead content testing of paint, surface coatings and substrates to CPSC 16 CFR 1303, load testing, high-speed camera, design review, specialized testing, reporting and data acquisition. ACT’s unbiased product evaluation and research can find faults in designs and failures over expected lifecycles, and has proven valuable in product design.
